Welcome to Dreamspinner’s Blog!

I am attempting to let you know that we have spread out all over the internet! Dreamspinners now has it’s own shop on Etsy, www.dreamspinners.etsy.com This is our story about how we have ended up here and what we are trying to accomplish, why we persevere against the odds that we will ever accomplish what we have set out to do. You would have to know us personally to know why we will not give up. If you could spend one hour with the head of this family, my husband, Kevin- you would understand why both my lovely grown children are in there fighting with all they have to assist and keep us all going.
Long story-short- disabled, Gulf War, PTSD, fixed income, a hero. This is a man who gave up his home and moved from Florida to Virginia at a very hgihg cost and debt to spend his father’s last two years with him. He was with Dad every other day , now we have just lost him and we all feel so desolate. Mom and Dad were together over 65 years, she is like a lost child now with him gone, now he takes care of her. She tells us to go away, but we will not desert her. We will travel more, and try to get him out of his deep depression, but we would never desert her. We are currently at our son’s in Florida, helping him get himself together, and find a job in his field. He has even spoken of entering the military to get some training. I am all for it. Just not the Army, any of the others are ok with me, I prefer he go Air Force, but then we have 2 generations of Navy going in this family. He would be our first officer. and gentleman. Altho, when I got here, he had his haircut into a mohawk, which I am still trying to get him to stand still for a picture to send his grandmother! I think he did it just to shock me and I just laughed, really did not notice it at all. He keeps it so short that you can hardly tell it is there!! A little late in life, 26, to be acting like a teen ager, but I guess my kids are just slow rebellers!
This afternoon we will talk with him about his resume and his future, as well as scheduling some time at the shooting range this week, and going to George Stone to the Academy. He has some decisions to make, hockey ended last night, so there goes half his income. Back to business!!
We are expanding the Dreamspinner’s and adding some things to the repetoire, trying to upscale our income, and maybe downscale our inventory in Boogie’s Bags, maybe go with a smaller, more simple bag that will be less expensive. I am looking into using up that extra fabric I have stashed in the building as well as all that is trying to take over Laura’s house. There are other things I can make as well and maybe that would be the way to go there, wallets, eyeglass cases, coin cases, transfers, embroidery on them, monograming, and customizing more.
I am out job hunting, we have got to pay off our moving debts and my student loans, I am applying all over the place, from Louisiana to Northern Virginia. EPA, FEMA, government, military bases, etc. Belle even talked me into submitting my resume again to the Rke City Library, after being rejected 28 times, what’s 3 more, then I can say over 30 times! I am hoping to get on with FEMA or EPA as they pay the most, if I am going to work, might as well make as much as I can. In the meantime, we spend some time in Florida, it is helping Kevin and Josh as well, and I am getting to spend some time with Joan as well as going up to Georgia and seeing the Benge family, wow! Those girls have really grown, and playing T-Ball as well as running track, Em played basketball this season and is going to 2 college camps this summer while out of school. We are all going to the beach and stay at Belle’s place the week of June 8, just the girls I should say, All Girl’s Week!! All set up and we are all ready to go! We will celebrate Laura being 30 this year, and pray that she will have a job, career, and that all will go well with her new district manager. She comes in on the 10th, to see her, so that should tell how things are going to go. She is working hard dyeing yarn, has developed some new friends, and a lovely family has adopted her! She has taken an apprentice, Ali, who thinks she is great, and is learning to dye yarns, spin, knit and they are working out the chemical formulas to the different dyes, and making some great colorways. They, however, did not write them down, so are not sure that they could duplicate them! ARGHHHH!!!!!
Look at our sites and see what you like as we expand our lines!!
